 This is a battery-powered,
three-wheeled vehicle with a handle
bar used for steering. It is suitable
for indoor and outdoor use.
Medicare
- Purchase only. Non-assigned. Covered
only when ordered by a physician.
Specializing in physical medicine,
orthopedic surgery, neurology or rheumatology.
ALL of the following criteria is required:
- Patient pays HEQ and insurance
reimburses patient.
- Patient must need a power operated
vehicle (POV) to get around within
the home.
- Patient can't operate a manual
wheelchair within the home for
activities of daily living, or
at work.
- Patient can safely operate the
controls.
- Patient can transfer safely
in-and-out of the scooter.
- Medicare requires a Written
Order Prior to Delivery (WOPD).
- A copy of the ordering physician's
clinical evaluation must be submitted
with the claim by the supplier.
The evaluation must identify patient,
specify the date and be signed
by the doctor.
