 This
wheelchair has fixed height removable,
full-length arms; swing-away detachable
foot rests, and wheel locks. The seat
depth is 16-to-17 inches, and the
width is 18 inches or more. It will
accommodate the patient weighing over
250 pounds.
Medicare
- Capped rental. Patient's height,
weight, and hip size must be documented.
For patients weighing 250 to 300 pounds.
Covered if the following criteria
are met:
- Patient needs a wheelchair
for mobility in the home.
- Patient must be in wheelchair
at least four hours per day.
NOTE: The description and Medicare
coverage for an Extra Heavy
Duty Wheelchair are the same
as for the Heavy Duty Wheelchair.
The only difference is that the Extra
Heavy Duty Wheelchair accommodates
patients weighing over 300 pounds,
and this must be documented to obtain
coverage.
